Denmark

Klitmøller

The remains of the second World War bunkers and dugouts mark the coastline near Klitmöller in North West Jütland in Denmark. The bunkers were once a part of a coastal fortifications along the western coast of Europe and Scandinavia.

Today, the remains of the bunkers themselves are on the beach or in the water. These ruins pose a danger to thousands locals and tourist visiting the area that is famous for its good surfing beaches. The council of Jütland had decided to blast and remove the bunkers as a preventive action to avoid incidents.

For the blasting operation the bunkers are covered by a sheet pile wall on three sides of the structure. The Z – sheet piles in a length up to 8 meters were driven with the Movax Side-Grip vibrator. After blasting the concrete blocks will be split into small pieces with a rock breaker, reinforcement steel was separated, and transported away.
