A two-way underpass, high enough for truck traffic, is being built to go under a 5-track railroad in Tikkurila, Finland.
Basis of the underpass will be below groundwater table. Therefore the basis is circumscribed with a sheet pile wall and water level inside the area is dropped below the surrounding groundwater table with an automatic pumping station.
Workflow:: Sheet piles are driven on the underpass borders and 200 meters of sheet pile wall is being made on each side of the middle track. Then this 3rd track is cut from traffic and the underpass on the point is built ready. After this is done all traffic is led on the 3rd track so that the remaining 4 tracks can be worked. Pre-cast concrete elements are gathered on the road leading to the underpass by the outermost tracks. Then the needed space is dig under the tracks 1, 2, 4 and 5 and the pre-cast underpass elements are pushed on their places.
