Building a cycle way along the Launceston Flood Levee in Tasmania

Australia

Launceston

Australian company PilePro has recently undertaken a project to build a cycle way along the Launceston Flood Levee in Tasmania. The site comprises up to 20m of marine silts before a suitable founding could be made. In combination with a crane pitching the pile vertically and using the SG-60 side-grip vibrator, we were able to stand and vibrate in 24m long pile strings eliminating the need to field splice the piles in difficult conditions. The IH-25 impact hammer was then used to drive the pile to achieve the required structural capacity.

The combination of the vibrator and side grip enabled PilePro to utilise a smaller crane and install the piles as a single long pile greatly enhancing site efficiency.
