Project called Via Mangue in Brazilian city of Recife is one of the biggest on-going infrastructure developments in the country. When completed, a new elevated highway is opening a new connection from southern Boa Viagem district to main city of Recife.
Queiroz Galvão, main contractors for the project, is currently constructing access roads and bridges at the southern end of the motorway. Most of these are being built over swampy river delta area only accessible on temporary work bridges. Looking for faster methods to install H-beam foundation of these structures, Queiroz Galvão acquired Movax Side-Grip vibro which is also capable of extracting the piles when removing the temporary bridges. An alternative method in use is a drop hammer.
The temporary bridges are designed to carry loads up to 20 ton only, which limited their selection on piling machinery. Movax SG-35 fitted to Komatsu PC160 LC was selected due this limitation. Side-Grip pile driver is equipped with purpose made side clamps to handle and drive required size H-piles.
