Jun 5, 2018

Rebuilding Hämeensilta bridge over Tammerkoski river Tampere is a unique jobsite in Finland. Talking about Tammerkoski River’s most famous bridge in the middle of the city, which will be rebuilt, says Jari Humalajoki, Jobsite Foreman at YIT-Infra, Finland. First the concrete frame of the old bridge is dismantled and then a new bridge is completely rebuilt. The concrete frame of bridge is renewed in stages, one half at the time.

Subcontractor Maanrakennus Ruusunlehti Oy utilizes Movax vibratory side grip piler SG-60V attached to Liebherr excavator for the foundation work. SG-60V high frequency pile driver with variable eccentric moment is driving Ø 220 mm tubular steel piles for making the working platform underneath the bridge. Disturbance of the surrounding environment is minimized by operating at a high frequency and thus avoiding an oscillation of the soil and the surrounding structures at their natural frequencies. The working platform is the place from which the actual bridge construction work takes place. The work was done quickly and according to the schedule with Movax side grip piler.
