Pile driving at the Arenastaden

Sweden

Solna

Arenastaden will be the Nordic region’s foremost destination for events, shopping, business and living. It is a brand new and unique part of the city featuring Sweden’s new national football arena and among many others, Stockholm’s highest Hotel.

Hotel, Arena and most of the infrastructure will be completed in 2012. Peab, one of Sweden’s biggest construction companies, is also involved in the design and development of the Arenastaden project. The ground for the basement have to be stabilized with steel sheet piles supported by jet injection while building and constructing the basement of the 90 meter high Quality Hotel and other facilities around Arenastaden.

In this jobsite Peab used Movax SP-60F mounted on 28 ton excavator to vibrate the 6 and 8 meters long Larssen piles into the ground. These piles are especially prepared with tubes welded along the whole length. After finishing the piling work, a special machine refills the tubes with a concrete mix.

Peab operator is stating efficient and exact handling of the Movax starting from lifting the pile from the ground, placing it to position and finally driving it down in a straight angle with the help of the Auto-C automatic operating device.
