MOVAX REFERENCES

MOVAX piling equipment is the optimum solution for a wide range of piling requirements and a variety of soil and site conditions ranging from the largest construction sites to landscaping jobs – also in the most demanding conditions when a high-degree of precision is required, in sensitive environments and when limited space or access is available.

Today there are more than 2500 MOVAX units delivered to more than 65 countries, on six continents, world wide.

APPLICATION EXPERTISE

Throughout the years MOVAX has gained a deep understanding and know-how of varying site and soil conditions ranging from the freezing cold of the arctic to the heat of the tropics - and of a wide range of applications from Rail, Road and Civil to Waterways & Piers, Utilities and Environmental & Energy.

End bearing steel pile foundation for railroad upgrade

Finland

Vantaa

The steel piles were installed to support new rails near level crossing that links a new line to the existing main line. The railroad at this location is built mainly onto driven pre-cast piles. This particular part of the piling works included driving piles between existing tracks with over head lines. To minimize a disturbance to the rail traffic the 220 mm diameter steel piles were driven by utilising a combination of Movax Side-Grip vibro and Movax IH-25d piling hammer.

The work was done in five hours periods at nights and under outer rail line possession. The foundation was classified to 1b piling class and demanded PDA testing. The contractor Graniittirakennus Kallio Oy used SP-60F Side-Grip mounted onto 30 tonne crawler excavator to manipulate the piles under over head lines and to drive them to refusal. The IH-25 piling hammer was then fitted to the same carrier and each pile was impact driven to ensure the bearing load capasity. The piles varied from 6 to 11 metres and were all driven to solid rock.

The project is part of 655M€ Ring Rail Line that is currently being constructed in Vantaa near Finland’s capital Helsinki. When in operation in 2015 this partly underground two track line is connecting five new stations including Helsinki-Vantaa Airport to the main North line.
